Chalking protest at Orlando City Hall invokes “Rebellion” and “Resistance” as times darken

On the 28th of September, courageous #LGTBQ
activists showed up with Chalk in front of Orlando’s City Hall. There was zero police opposition. State Police would have expected us at Pulse not City Hall. Orlando’s government for all their own issues does NOT seem to by loyal to Trump or DeSantis.

Yes, there was rainbow chalking at the ramps feeding two crosswalks. Between DeSantis’s thuggish behavior and the violent threats from Der Fuhrer Donald Trump it seems that the rules of engagement may have changed radically. In spite of the greatly elevated risks of peaceful protest against an openly Fascist regime, people showed up anyway. That is the courage of warriors!

This went down in the teeth of such earlier incidents at Pulse as arrests for walking in a crosswalk with chalked shoes, a violent assault, and a threat of armed attack.

Five Veterans arrested outside MacDill AFB in Tampa for stepping into the street with a pro-Palestine banner

On the 18th of September, members of Veterans for Peace showed up with an anti-genocide banner at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. The protest turned into a furious and very angry scene as cops pounded on the protesters and arrested five of them.

MacDill AFB is the headquarters of CENTCOM, which handles all US operations in the Middle East. This base also played a role in the bombing of targets in Iran. It is actually surprising they haven’t had a lot more problems with protesters given their role.

MacDill can be compared to a hypothetical WWII German Luftwaffe base used to coordinate aid to Japan for the Pacific Front. THAT’S how juicy a protest target MacDill is.

DC Activists Defended Peace Vigil Before US Park Police Took It Down

(from DC Media Group)

Editors note: Lex King was present on the night President Trump ordered the takedown of the William Thomas Memorial Peace Vigil. They gave this first person account of activists’ actions which kept the U.S. Park Police from removing the Peace Vigil entirely. As of Tuesday night, the Peace Vigil was continuing operations and being staffed by multiple activists but without its main tent structure.

“If this tent goes, watch yourself and your families next,” activist Rio Phillips warned a growing crowd on Friday, September 5th. Night had already fallen over the city when he’d received word that the William Thomas Memorial Peace Vigil could be taken down at any moment. Phillips and a group of supporters flocked to Lafayette Square to defend the longest running protest in American history.

The Peace Vigil began in 1981, running 24/7. Vigil keepers used a blue tent to take shelter from the elements and store materials. According to permitting laws in Washington D.C., the tent did not require a permit as long as someone was actively attending to it, meaning the tent couldn’t be left alone for any period of time. That’s why protestors were immediately alarmed when they got the call that the vigil’s attendant had been removed from the tent.

When they arrived at Lafayette Square, police tape blocked the entrance to the park with multiple Park Police officers guarding it. Protestors were stuck on the sidewalk, trying to spot the tent in the dark. Police assured the group they’d closed the square down for a congressional picnic, not to take down the tent, but it did little to quell the group’s fear.

Earlier that day, Trump found out about the Vigil on live television after a right-wing personality levied slanderous accusations that the tent was hiding weapons. Trump responded, “Take it down. Take it down today, right now.”

DC Citizens Demand Statehood In Rally And March Against Occupation Police Forces

From DC Media Group:

Washington DC—Tens of thousands of DC citizens rallied and marched Saturday demanding the immediate end to occupation forces and an end to police harassment and illegal arrests in communities throughout the city. The We Are All DC action was in response to the regime’s deployment of 1000s of federal police and over 2000 Army National Guard Soldiers from Southern States, including Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Citizens denounced roundups of immigrants, traffic stop traps, and the arrests some U.S. citizens.

The march began at Malcom X Park and ended about a mile away at Freedom Plaza, where organizers told of the adverse affects the occupation had on their communities, police stops to check drivers, usually without probable cause, and ICE roundups of immigrants and green card holders awaiting their final approval as citizens. Businesses were being hampered or closed because customers were not coming to the city and workers were afraid to go to work.

Tampa SDS demands ICE off campus and out of FL

On the 2nd of September, Tampa/USF SDS held a protest just outside University of South Florida demanding that ICE leave not only the campus but all of Florida. A further demand was that Trump must leave office.

Tampa SDS now operates off-campus, out of range of the jurisdication of USF’s brutal campus cops and dishonest “disciplinary” structure.

Tampa 50501 protest for Labor Day

On Labor Day the first of September, activists in Tampa held one of the “workers over billionaires” 50501 protests that took place from coast to coast on that day. These protests called attention to Trump’s connections to billionaires and the “Donor Class” and partially to the origins of Labor Day.

Labor Day was originally a celebration of union power, source of among other things the weekend and the (now less and less common) 8 hour workday. The original day for this was Mayday, but the US ruling class so feared Mayday’s revolutionary connotations they created a separate holiday diverting attention off revolutionary elements.

“Chalk the Walk” in St Petersburg FL dresses up sidewalk with zero police interference.

Feeling triggered, Ron DeSantis? A well chalked sidewalk in St Petersburg, FL

Palestinian flag and Eat the Rich

On the 30th of August, while the FL State Highway Patrol was busy watching pulse, sidewalk art crews struck in St Pete instead. Nobody was able to interfere. The previous night someone was arrested for allegedly walking on the disputed crosswalk wirh chalked shoes, but the judge threw out the case:

The sidewalk was well chalked at Pulse too the night before, but a parking lot across from Pulse had police cruisers (presumed FHP) lined up doorhandle to doorhandle.

By comparison we had zero opposition in St Pete. From Sun Tzu’s the Art of War: fight the enemy where he isn’t.
