ADAPT swarms Rayburn House Office Building over proposed Medicaid cuts

On the 14th of May, disability group ADAPT swarmed into DC’s Rayburn House Office Building in opposition to the Trump/GOP plans to cut off over $880 billion in Medicaid funds. During the protests 26 people were reportedly arrested.

Here’s a quote from one of the protesters as published by TV7 (TV7’s words removed):

“Cuts to Medicaid will mean I lose services, or have them cut” “If I lose services, my attendants, I who have families to support, don’t get paid. If my services get cut, it will mean I can’t work because there is no one to help me bathe and dress for work. If I can’t work, I won’t be able to support my son or pay my rent and I will be evicted and forced into a nursing home where I will lose my freedom and the control over my life. I am here fighting for my life!”

Of all the groups that protest inside the Capitol or its related buildings, the cops regard ADAPT as the hardest of all the peaceful groups to remove. Powered wheelchairs with people in them are so heavy that cops can’t simply pick them up. Dumping people out of them looks incredibly nasty on video. No easy options for the cops.

Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill” with itd proposals to carve the gut out of Medicaid has pushed folks fighting disabilities to the brink. Few would be able to continue medical treatment for long term issues if this passes. The billionaires and corporations whose tax cuts this is to fund do NOT care. Even if they get their legs smashed by a drunk driver (which can and does happen!) they have their own docs whose services they can easily afford.

A note on the video: it is enemy-published footage, but they were too stupid to realize its publication benefits us not them. This is ADAPT not the Democrats of course

Anti-Trump protesters show up at Orlando’s Lake Eola for Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day the 11th of May, protesters oposing Donald Trump and Fascism showed up at Orlando’s Lake Eola Park. Bike cops hung out almost out of sight in the park but presumably oriented on the protest.

One protester’s sign protrayed a guillotine, another called out Hegseth’s ACTUAL gang tattoos in contrast to transgender troops being booted out of the US military. Unlike Hegseth’s gang tattoos (an “offense” others have been sent to CECOT for), trans troops do not threaten anything in the military save Trump’s anti-constittutional auto-coup ambitions.

Migration rights activists hold vigil in Tampa for #Heydi

On the 10th of May (mother’s day weekend), migrant rights activists gathered in Ybor City, Tampa’s Centennial Park to hold a vigil for Heydi Sanchez Tejida. A covered area in the park allowed the vigil to proceed almost unaffected by the day’s drenching rains.

Back in April, ICE ambushed Heydi at a normally scheduled check-in hearing, forcibly tore her nursing baby out of her arms, and deported her to Cuba in chains. This is the cruelty that Donald Trump and ICE are all about. Whatever it takes this evil must be stopped.

It takes a lot of nerve for armed invaders to steal two whole continents, then dare to tell surviving Indigenous people and their descendents where they can travel on their own land!

The inhuman brutality in ICE detention centers, the shackles and chains, and the perfidy of asking people to show up “voluntarily” for these hearings and then throwing them in iron dungeons is beyond intolerable. It is the opinion of this author that ICE will surely find people stop coming to these hearings, just as they are finding when they go into communities to hunt, whole neighborhoods swarm out to resist them.

It is clear that there is nothing to be gained from cooperating with ICE or any part of their “supervision” but suffering and pain.

DC/Arlington: Moms Teach Children How To Fight Fascism at Tesla Takedown on Mother’s Day

Video by John Zangas/DC Media Group

Arlington, VA—Mothers everywhere will be beaming with pride as their grown children return home bringing flowers for Mother’s Day weekend. Though flowers are a nice gesture, doing something with Mom like cooking dinner or taking her out is another way to say ‘I love you’ on Mother’s Day. But going to a local Tesla showroom with your children to fight fascism? Well, maybe.

Tampa remembers the 1937 Anti-Fascist Women’s March in Ybor City

In 1937, an anti-Fascist women’s march stepped off in Ybor City in Tampa’ FL. They marched to City Hall to deliver a letter to the Mayor in support of those in Spain resisting Franco and Fascism in the Spanish Civil War.

On May 6 2025, another women’s march set forth in Ybor City. One contingent reversed the original direction, marching from City Hall into Ybor City, then linking up with other marchers. The march ended at Centennial Park after stopping for a few speeches at the location the orginal march set forth from.

This time around, it’s the United States where Fascists similar to Franco and his thugs have taken power. Marchers emphasized that we were all there to resist Fascism here and today.

DC area May 3-4:Tesla Takedown Boycott Holds The Line At Showroom In Arlington VA

Arlington, VA—Word was passed among the Tesla boycotters earlier this week not to tread on the Arlington Tesla’s dirt surface because the company was laying new mulch. So on week 14 of the boycott actions the line stayed off the new mulch out of respect for the business operation. As they have done for the last 3 1/2 months, boycotters brought their hand-painted signs, many of which were new as last week’s action was soaked by a storm.

Those who think the Tesla Takedowns are just about taking down Tesla stock values and separating Elon Musk from his capital have missed the point of Tesla Takedowns. The actions themselves have become more important with each passing week because the Trump regime’s insatiable lust for power has expanded and cannot be constrained. The recent disappearance of migrants and American citizens without due process afforded under the law during a court hearing demonstrates that.

Tampa Mayday march takes to the streets of Ybor City

Video-Protesters with Mayday International Workers Day banner march in the streets of Tampa’s Ybor City, and antifa videographer drives off Oath Keeper with some shaming about his not being at J6

On the 3ed of May, protesters organized by the W Central FL labor coalition took the streets and marched around Tampa’s Ybor City. Activists from 50501 also helped put this march together. Like many Mayday events in FL, this was held on Saturday to allow more people to participate. Street marches have been rare lately in FL due to extreme repressive laws that legalize drivers ramming protesters and give cops a nearly free hand.

None of this was enough to deter this powerful anti-Trump/Musk protest from taking to the streets for a march. Much of the chanting emphasized that Tampa is a union town and that union-busting bosses will NOT be tolerated.

There is a sour note in every parade, and in this case it was a single Oath Keeper showing up. He turned out to be a cosplaying wannabe and bailed out after I shamed him for sitting out J6 and not getting his ass in the grass with his crew.

“Mayday Strong” Protest in Lakeland, FL draws big crowd, but MAGA agitiator causes an arrest

UPDATE: it turns out MAGA agitator Kaitlyn Bennet is a PAID agitator, makes all her money on clickbait Youtube videos.

On the 1st of May, multiple groups in Polk County, FL came together in Lakeland for the “Mayday Strong” pro-labor and anti-Trump protest. A surprisingly strong crowd turned out.

Unfortunately, serial MAGA agitator Kaitlyn Bennett also showed up, using tactics similar to those of Jack Posobiec. She attempted to pose as a protester, but had signs that revealed her intent: to discredit anti-Trump protesters. One sign said “legalize MS-13,” another claimed that being trans is a choice like choosing a snack. She baited and harassed protesters almost constantly.

At some point she put down her signs, probably to set a deliberate trap. Signs abandoned on public property are by law considered abandoned property but this law was ignored: Kaitlyn whined to the cops about the signs as soon as someone picked them up, triggering an arrest that took place so fast as to suggest prearrangement.

The person taken hostage by the police is out of jail, but this incident ratchets up tension with the big 50501 protests on Sat, May 3 still to come

Below is a photo of Kaitlyn Bennet with her “Legalize MS-13” sign:
